T497 HU12 following its 2008 restoration.

HU12 was the last of the T497s to be built and the only one to be completed in 1979, it left the Lola factory in May of that year and was delivered to Carl Haas fitted with a Ford BDH engine and red bodywork.

The new owner of HU12 is Walter Vollrath who bought the car in February of 2006 from David Dunn who ran the car in C Sports from 1987 through to 1995. In his last race in 1995 the ring gear bolts broke and split the gearbox case. The car then sat in a barn from then until 2006 by which time the car was a mess, there were nests of mice in the engine and fuel cell areas! The ownership of the car back can be traced back to 1981 but there are no records prior to this date.

(If you can supply any further details of the early history please contact gerald.swan@lola-cars.co.uk).

HU12 has just completed its restoration in the workshop of Armsup Motorsports in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, only about 5 miles from the stunning circuit of Road America and it had its first run at the Kohler International Challenge in July 2008.

The family resemblance to the T490/492 is very clear.
